This process is as per the Harbourside Church Safe Church Policy - Procedure for Staff and Volunteers endorsed by the NSW and ACT Baptist Association.

Forms for Volunteers

The 5 Step Process
for New Volunteers

Induction Videos

  • You’ve expressed an interest to serve by speaking to a staff member or ministry leader.

    Ministry Areas:
    - Kids and Youth
    - Hospitality
    - Sunday Service
    - Production

  • The ministry leader will email you a position description and ask you to:

    • View the 3 induction videos and complete quiz (~30 mins)

    • Fill out the Ministry Screening Questionnaire

    • Fill out the Harbourside Code of Conduct

It is best to complete these items in the order above as the induction videos share some information about the forms.

  • If you are a new volunteer, you will have an interview with your Ministry Leader. This may be a simple phone call or a face-to-face catch-up.

  • Your Ministry Leader will provide more specific induction for the area in which you are serving in.

This might occur during the first time you are rostered to serve in your ministry area.

  • All those serving in Ministry Areas involving children or young people MUST complete the Creating Safe Spaces training. We encourage all other volunteers to complete it though it is not mandatory.

    Creating Safe Spaces Training involves:

    • An online training module on the CSS website (~1.5hrs)

    • A face-to-face or online workshop (~3hrs)

Details for these can be found on the Creating Safe Spaces website.
